ABOUT US John and I agree that horses are an integral part of our lives and who we are. When we met several years ago, I had two horses. Now we’ve stopped counting. Horses are a big part of our family and always will be. When John retired from the U.S. Navy after 21 years, he decided to become a farrier. He loves his daily work with horses and let’s face it…it’s nice to have a farrier in the family. I work as a mortgage loan officer and enjoy being able to help and educate people. We have two young daughters who love the horses as much as we do. They are learning the responsibilities associated with owning horses. Having owned Arabians and Quarter Horses before, I hadn’t a clue what I would feel when I first saw a Gypsy Horse. It was truly love at first sight. John and I instantly felt that the gentleness and sweet nature of the Gypsy Horse cannot be beat. Our children can be around our Gypsy horses with no worries. Our Gypsy’s are inquisitive, friendly and very well mannered. We also have three dogs that think they are human members of our families. The queen of the family is Gypsy, a German Shorthair Pointer whom we’ve had for eleven years. She’s a very special dog who has survived some amazing challenges. It’s only fitting that we have come to love Gypsy horses after having our own "Gypsy" dog all these years. We have two other Pointers who were also rescued (Tramp and Buddy) whom we love dearly. Our family currently lives in Ramona, California (the San Diego area). However, we are making a big change in our lives in the Summer of 2007 and will be moving to Michigan. We’re looking forward to allowing the horses pasture to graze in and room to run. Change can be an exciting thing and the Lake’s are up for it! As Gypsy Lake Ranch grows, we will strive to offer a few quality foals for sale each year. Our goal is to raise, show, and breed excellent quality Gypsy Horses, Shires and Drum Horses.
